Born in Brno, Czech Republic, Sarka followed her parents in their escape from communism to Toronto, Canada just before her fourth birthday. At age seven, she joined a swim club and in the summer of eighth grade, she started playing drums and formed a girl band, In A Jar. Around the same time, she began a diary to document her life adventures.
After high school, Sarka moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia but soon into it, joined a percussion theater group, Scrap Arts Music that took her around the world while she completed her International Relations degree. When not on the road, she worked as a lifeguard, swimming instructor trainer, service and support coordinator at Century 21 Canada, business manager at Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, and drummer in various jazz, hip-hop and R&B bands.
Her life took a different turn when she met Jay, now her husband, as she moved to New York City, Tampa and San Francisco to be with him. When Jay’s work led them to Singapore, she took a job with Hewlett-Packard as a technical writer and business operations analyst to try something new. But Sarka wanted to help in a different kind of way and make a bigger impact. So she is writing books, practicing yoga, playing music, helping people and tying it all together in a new business venture with Jay, the love and inspiration of her life. Stay tuned. Bigger is coming.
